  • The men have been working on a well drilling rig, that eventually will end up in Mexico.

Here they are taking the well drilling equipment off the truck, as the truck wasn't in good enough shape to send to Mexico.

    IMG_8545

Not sure what all they are doing, but it was Jeff, Ethan, Milton, and Gordon that worked on it one day.

Then Sat. it was Jeff and Jim working.

This is the truck they bought to put under the well drilling equipment.

Tuesday, Norell, Lee, and Milton finshed the project.

Wed. morn. they rolled her out the door, and Jeff and Jim drove it to IN.

In IN a man is going to dig a well, to make sure all is working on that part of it.

They also plan to put a water tank on the truck yet, then hopefully it will head  for Mexico.

Lee was one excited man about the whole project, here they give a high five!!!

  • Thanksgiving Week

So many pictures, but only so much space and time.

    Carey's arrived Friday before Thanksgiving.

We ran up to Grandpa Hershey's one day.

    Four generations!!

The ride up there, these guys were in the back of the van. Were going to nap on the way up, they talked most of the way instead.

Brandon loved his cedarmont kid movies, kept him occupied

Guys had the women out driving deer for them Monday morn.

Lots of memories, boys playing (sometimes fighting).

    IMG_8319

Linda & Saraetta found a common interest.

    IMG_8329

The game of the week was, The Farming Game. Failed to get a picture of all the guys playing.

    Training the next generation early.

Paul and June joined us Thursday morning.

    IMG_8491

Thanksgiving day, we did our gift exchange. Since we won't be together at Christmas, did it now.

Looking at the calendar that Lois made for everyone, very neat.

    IMG_8501

Delvyn wanted to grill one eve., so we did. Delvyn did the pork chops, and Paul the chicken. (Jim got out of it, cause he was out looking for his buck. Had a blood trail, but never did find it.) The grilled meat was very good, and worth the 23 degrees the guys had to endure.

    IMG_8515 IMG_8516 IMG_8518

We forgot to take family pictures, so did a few quick shots. (they all on Saretta's camera though).

Got a picture of Paul's and us, but didn't have time to take any more.

    IMG_8524

Paul's headed for home, the rest of us went to Minnapolis. Carey's left for CO, after we gave a program at New Hope Center in the eve.

Paul's had this load to take home, our old 4 wheeler and a desk of mine June wanted.

  • I was reminded that I haven't up dated in awhile!!!!!!!

    IMG_5960 IMG_5963

I have been waiting for the girls to get their project done, then was going to up date on it. But since we have been so busy doing other things, this has been in the waiting.

I had the girls  make the peek-a boo dolls. Sara has had the most fun,

has dressed her's in several different outfits over the weeks.

    IMG_5966

She took the one that Linda is to do, and fixed it up a bit with hers.

This was before we had figured out how to do the head, so she has bean bags stuck under the hats.

    IMG_5975

Now she has a head finally, but still have a few more details to figure out.

    IMG_7792

Caught a few people wearing one of the wigs we picked up!!!!!!

    IMG_5864 IMG_5872 IMG_5863

Not much else going on around here, except for work and more work.

  • This post is for my children again, (anyone else that wants to look may also).

Boots Knoll brought over a book with pictures, I scanned these two picture taken in 1928 of the house we live in now. The pictures are old and hard to see, but hope you can see it well enough.

     Back of house:

Notice the back porch is an open porch.

    Front of house:

notice the hill behind the house, no trees.

  • My Dad and Mom were here last week. Dad finished the arch way between living rm and dining rm.

    IMG_5926

Years ago he had remodeled the bathrooms, and Jim said he would finish the ceilings. Well it never got done, so my Dad finished the ceilings while he was here also. Textured the ceilings, then put the trim up. Everything looks so nice. I have to finish the arch way yet, with staining and varnishing.

    IMG_5933 IMG_5937

School was moved to the kitchen table.

    IMG_5928

I think my Mom was quite shocked to see my girls sitting cozy in the living room doing their history though.

She was probably questioning my teaching methods.

    IMG_5929

Last week we had Elmer and Boots Knoll  out for supper. The Knoll's (the parents to these men) would have built our house back in 1924. Their older brother is at the Nursing home where we sing, and the younger brother, Boots, comes in at times to listen to us. We enjoy visiting with them, so our eve. was very interesting hearing stories of when they lived here. They were a family with 13 chidren. Boots got his nick name because they couldn't afford boots for him, the youngest boy. So as soon as any of the other boys came in, Boots would slip their boots on so he could have a turn outside. He also said he couldn't have a piece of pie unless one of the other boys didn't want theirs, he said he was too young to earn his keep yet.

Bev was over this afternoon and picked apples, she got six or seven bushels I believe.

Jim was nice (since it's too wet to take the pickup up) and brought her apples down with the tractor.

Bev is in the wagon also, didn't realize I missed her, she is sitting in the back.

    IMG_5951 IMG_5952 IMG_5953

The apples were really nice this year.

    IMG_5954

Our 4 wheeler has been getting worse all summer, so bad the children weren't even comfortable driving the thing anymore. The guys suddenly got the idea today to buy a new one. Much to my surprise, they found a used one right away. It had just been brought in, so probably would not have stayed there very long. We feel blessed to have found this very nice used 4 wheeler.
